Marissa A. Connolly
Biography:
Marissa Connolly (Violin and Viola) has been playing the violin since the age of 6. She holds both a Masters Degree from CUNY Brooklyn in Violin Performance, and a Bachelor's Degree from the Crane School of Music in Violin Performance and String Education.

During her time at both Brooklyn College and the Crane School of music she was appointed concert mistress. The groups she led were the Brooklyn College Orchestra, the Crane Symphony Orchestra and the Crane Chamber Orchestra.

Her teachers have included Dr.  Masao Kawasaki, Barbara Hanafan, Irene Lawton, John Lindsey, and Matthew Pierce, who have studied  the “Galamian Method" teaching style with Dorothy DeLay, and enjoyed successful performing careers.

Miss Connolly currently teaches at The Young Women's Leadership School of East Harlem. She teaches voice/music appreciation classes to 6,7,8, and 11th grade girls. She also teaches strings at the beginning level and intermediate level.
In the past Miss Connolly​ has taught for six years in Manhattan, Suffolk, and Nassau counties of New York as an Orchestral Director and Small Lesson Group teacher in both Public and Private schools.


As a private teacher, she has taught numerous students who have participated and received high accolades in the New York State School Music Association festival (NYSSMA). Miss Connolly is also an active (NYSSMA) string judge.

(In a professional capacity) She has also served as a paid member of the Orchestra of Northern New York (Potsdam, NY), South Shore Symphony (Rockville Centre LI), Amore Opera Company in Manhattan (Lower East Side), and the Brooklyn College Orchestra (Flatbush, Brooklyn)
